Tales of Far Away Places - 4th-5th Grade Chorus Concert
Tales of Far Away Places is a 4th-5th chorus concert program of original songs taken from original Children's Musicals. The script calls for Narrators and Soloists who tell about their desires to travel to distant times and places. The "lead-in" narrations also give historical settings to each of these songs and the fable or folktale the musicals were based on.
Far Away Places and distant times are ancient Greece, ancient Japan, ancient Persia, and the American Old West, as well as Paris, France in any time, Elizabethan England, and nowadays "yesterday."
Songs come from "Never Cry Wolf," "Momotaro," "The Country Mouse and the City Mouse," "Parizade's Quest," "Stone Soup," "The Tale of Chicken Licken," and "The Adventures of Dick Whittington."
Running Time is approx. 30 minutes.
Script (18 pages) features up to 21 different student narrators. Four pages of just the lyrics are also included (reproducible).
Score (46 pages) includes 8 songs, some in unison, others 2-part or with soloists. An Overture is also included (optional).
