But, for the first show of the second weekend of performances, one of the ensemble performers got stomach flu. All day, the directors were waiting for the text that would tell them if he would be able to be up for the the performance that night. The director asked my daughter if she had any ideas of how they could manage if he could not go on. For one of his parts, another actors could fill in to sing his solo. But the parts in the big production numbers were harder to fill because most everyone else was busy in the number or making quick costume changes. So my daughter, who had choreographed those numbers decided that the only course would be for her to take his place.
So she did!
The bonus for me was being able to see her perform in a musical again. This was a big part of her life growing up, but since marrying and raising kids she hasn't performed on stage. But she still has the stage presence! It was so fun to see her dance and sing again!
She was the blow fish in "Under the Sea."
